About mychomchom.com

Hi, I’m Charlotte — and my home is basically a fur salon.

I live with a Golden Retriever named Biscuit (essentially a self-propelled glitter cannon, but the glitter is beige fur), a wiry rescue mix called Pepper, and a Tabby cat named Fig who has claimed my navy blue velvet sofa as his personal throne. I love them all madly. I also spent years drowning in their hair.

I tried everything. Sticky rollers with their endless refill sheets. Rubber gloves. Pumice stones. Three different “pet-specific” vacuums. My cleaning closet started to look like a graveyard of “As Seen on TV” failures. The hair kept winning.

Then, in early 2023, a friend would not stop talking about the ChomChom Roller. I bought one mostly to prove her wrong. I did not prove her wrong.

Why I Started This Site

After using the ChomChom for a few months, I noticed how many people around me — in pet owner Facebook groups, on Reddit, at the dog park — were still suffering through the sticky-tape routine. They hadn’t heard of it, or they’d seen it online but weren’t sure if it was just clever marketing.

That’s exactly what mychomchom.com is for. I write honestly about what this roller does well, where it falls short, how to use it correctly, and how to keep it working over the long term. Everything here comes from real-world use in a real three-pet home.

How I Test and Write

I’m not sponsored by ChomChom. I’m an Amazon affiliate (you’ll see those disclosures clearly on every page), which means I earn a small commission if you buy through my links — at no extra cost to you. That arrangement does not change my opinions. If something doesn’t work, I say so.

When I test a technique or a comparison, I do it on the actual surfaces in my home:

  • Navy blue velvet sofa (Fig’s domain)
  • Microfibre armchair (Biscuit’s domain)
  • Car boot carpet (everyone’s domain)
  • A variety of clothing fabrics — though I’ll tell you upfront the roller is not ideal for clothes

I repeat tests after cleaning the roller, after extended use, and on different hair types (short wiry terrier-mix, long Golden, fine Tabby). The photos you see in my articles are from my home, not stock images.
